Project Highlight: Peel Children’s Aid Society Refurbishment

Peel Children’s Aid Society in partnership with Peel Children’s Aid Foundation offers financial support, education, essential skills, and programs to vulnerable families, children and youth in our community. Peel Children’s Aid Foundation raises funds to support innovative and urgently needed programs that are not government funded. Through the delivery of culturally sensitive services, together we aim to ensure that each youth is given equal opportunities to succeed, enhance their economic well-being, and to reach their full potential.

PeelChildren’s Aid Society works directly with over 11,000 families facing intersecting barriers throughout Peel Region. Many families lack the resources needed to participate in extracurricular activities. Through the power of sport, we believe we can help families, children and youth overcome some of these barriers and provide them with the ability to enhance their self-confidence, physical wellness, and mental health.

The new Community Hub will be a place that welcomes and supports children and youth at a difficult time, providing them with resources, support, and mentoring to help them develop personal skills, emotional and social strength, while transitioning into adulthood.

By helping vulnerable families and caregivers in need we are able to assist in building a successful future for their children and youth. Breaking down the barriers that children and youth face now will give them the confidence, self-esteem, and opportunity to become successful leaders of tomorrow. The Community Hub and Sports Complex allows us to further enhance our programming to evaluate individual progress, participation and personal development to ensure positive outcomes for youth and their families.

At this time, Peel Children’s Aid Society does not have an existing sports program. The power of sport has proven to be a positive coping mechanism for better mental health. Thanks to MLSE Foundation and Jumpstart, our Community Hub will now be able to offer the necessary space to develop exclusive sport programming.

Many youth in our community are faced with increased hardship as it relates to the emotional and psychological affects of the pandemic. Now more than ever, they will require the support and guidance needed during these difficult times.  The new Community Hub will ultimately be a safe, positive place for children and youth to build connections and share nurturing moments with their friends and families.

"For them, House of Hockey also became the House of Dreams."
