MLSE FOUNDATION RECEIVES $40,000 DONATION FROM TORONTO AREA FORD DEALERS

2/22/2018 4:30:00 PM
The Toronto Area Ford Dealers Association announced a significant contribution of $40,000 to MLSE Foundation with a cheque presentation Thursday afternoon. Directors of the Toronto Area Ford Dealers Association - Curtis Vickers, General Manager of Summit Ford, Matthew Fisher, Dealer Principal of Donway Ford, Robert Fraser, President of Fraser Auto Group and Ted Hogan, Dealer Principal of Dixie Ford, presented the cheque to Erika Minkhorst, MLSE Foundation’s Director of Philanthropy and Operations, which will help change children’s lives through sports in a variety of ways. Toronto Maple Leafs alumnus and the franchise’s first 50-goal scorer, Rick Vaive was also in attendance for the presentation.

“The Toronto Area Ford Dealers are very proud and excited to be able to unite two iconic brands with a Limited-Edition Toronto Maple Leafs F150 to help celebrate the Toronto Maple Leafs’ Centennial Season,” said Ted Hogan, President of the Toronto Area Ford Dealers Association. “The Toronto Area Ford Dealers are especially proud of the fact that giving back to the GTA community was a part of this celebration by donating part of the proceeds to MLSE Foundation. Go Leafs Go in your Ford F150!’

Toronto Area Ford Dealers Association’s donation comes from sales generated from the exclusive 2017 Toronto Maple Leafs Centennial Edition F150 XLT SuperCrew truck. In celebration of the Toronto Maple Leafs’ Centennial Anniversary last season, 400 limited-edition trucks were made available to the public, exclusively at the 23 Ford dealerships in the Toronto area. To commemorate one hundred years of the Blue and White, $100 from the sale of each Centennial Edition truck supported the donation, for a total of $40,000.

“Toronto Area Ford Dealers Association’s donation allows us to amplify the impact we’re having in children’s lives through the spirit and power of sports.” said Tanya Mruck, Executive Director of MLSE Foundation. “Whether we’re increasing youth sport participation through our signature programs, revitalizing athletic facilities in the Greater Toronto Area or helping kids recognize and reach their potential through MLSE LaunchPad, our efforts are incomplete without the support and generosity of our valued partner, Toronto Area Ford Dealers Association.”

The 2017 Toronto Maple Leafs Centennial Edition F150 XLT SuperCrew features: Maple Leafs Centennial Edition badges on the tailgate and front side panels, Oxford White paint with blue and white tailgate panel striping, Maple Leafs Centennial Edition trailer hitch, Maple Leafs logo stitched on front and rear floor mats and a Centennial Edition badge on center console. Each Centennial Edition truck sold was also accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity signed by Brendan Shanahan, President and Alternate Governor of the Toronto Maple Leafs, Mike Babcock, Head Coach of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Mark Buzzell, President and CEO of Ford Canada.
