Youth Leader Story: Kenny from ProAction Cops and Kids

4/19/2017 11:07:04 AM

“We have identified many outstanding youth in our program over the years and Kenny is one of the many we are very proud of. He spent his teenage years growing up in the Dawes Road area, where many of the youth are heavily impacted by [negative influences]. Kenny however never gave into any of these influences. He surrounded himself with good friends and focused on his education and future. He came into the league and automatically displayed all the core values we wanted the youth to have and in turn was awarded the TPS Award in his first year and the MVP award in his second year. Kenny showed the greatest commitment to his team, not only in the four years he played but by coming back as a youth leader and volunteering his time. Prior to joining the league, Kenny was too young to be seriously thinking about a future career but with the positive influence of the officers, he is now enrolled in Police Foundations with future aspirations of becoming a police officer. Kenny represents one of the many outstanding youth in our community who has benefitted from this great program. We firmly believe in our Youth Basketball Program and its ability to impact the lives of the young people and the communities we serve. This program would not be possible without the support of ProAction Cops & Kids and the MLSE Foundation. Thank you!”
