Top Strengths of the program:
  • Giving youth who don’t normally have access to WoodGreen programs and services an opportunity to access the programs and services
  • The opportunity for Newcomer Youth to meet others in the same situation in order to address issues of isolation, while at the same time meeting the need for physical activity
  • The ability to provide the option of one-on-one counselling if needed

“My experience with WoodGreen's soccer program was amazing. Whether I was playing indoor or outdoor; the soccer program helped me connect and make friends with new people. I learned how to work as a team, and how to use each individual strength for the greater use of the team. We played teams from all around the city, we lost some and we won some but we always had fun. Playing with the guys over the last couple of years really brought us together. When we stepped on the field it didn't feel like 11 guys on a team, it felt like a brotherhood.”
