Community Action Grants
MLSE Foundation will make grants of up to $50,000 to organizations that are looking to grow sport and recreation in their communities.
Criteria to apply to a Community Action Grant (please see the guidelines link below for more detail):

  • Fit with the MLSE Foundation mission
  • Programming focused on sport and recreation for children and youth
  • Must have a Charitable Registration Number or a Charitable Trustee*
  • Clear, measurable benefits to the community
  • Clear case for community support
  • Programs that build more inclusive communities and address barriers of all types
  • Programs that value, foster and celebrate diversity
*Charitable Trustee is a Charitable Organization that allows an Organization to use their Charitable Registration Number to apply to a grant
Regent Park Athletic Grounds Grants
Built in the 1940’s, Regent Park is Canada's oldest and largest social housing project in one of the highest-need neighbourhoods in the country (prior to revitalization).
In the fifth phase of development, the Regent Park Revitalization project continues to be a public and private partnership transforming 69 acres in Toronto’s east downtown. In partnership with Toronto Community Housing, The Daniels Corporation and the City of Toronto, MLSE Foundation joined to built The Regent Park Athletic Grounds. Opening in 2016, this project focused on three recreation facilities and four sports with one impact in mind: giving the kids of Regent Park a chance to PLAY. Over 2,800 youth access this innovative athletic grounds containing a basketball court, outdoor hockey rink and soccer pitch.
In conjunction with the capital build, MLSE Foundation launched The RPAG (Regent Park Athletic Grounds) Grants. In the third year, of a four-year commitment, this grant program focuses on sport development in the Regent Park community. Supported by funding from Sentry Investments, 3TO6 Team and Kelly Silverstein Memorial Fund, MLSE Foundation will award grants to sports and recreational-based programs and initiatives that utilize the Regent Park Athletic Grounds. Charitable organizations in Toronto in need of funding for youth-related recreational programming and capacity-building initiatives are invited to apply.
